Motherhood: Redefined

We know you feel overwhelmed. No matter how much you do,  it doesn't feel like enough. You and your burnout are invisible to the world, where there’s too much judgement and not enough connection.

Let’s change that.

In this community we value interdependence over independence. Join us to redefine motherhood for yourself and your family in a welcoming and inclusive space. We will be real, creative, and messy as we gather to explore what motherhood means to us.
We’ll explore:
  • The transformative power of motherhood
  • What it means to be “enough”
  • Learning to trust ourselves and our intuition as we reclaim the wisdom of our bodies
  • Cultivating internal stability when everything around us is changing all the time
  • Letting go of guilt and unnecessary suffering
  • How to build community in a world that rewards going at it alone
  • Valuing ourselves as mothers in a patriarchal society
Alone, we wonder, “am I the only one who’s struggling?” Together, we remind each other of how strong and resilient we actually are.

Weekly group meetings with Elizabeth
Each week we'll gather on Elizabeth's backyard screened porch (and indoors when the weather gets cooler) to dive deeper into our weekly themes. We will learn and share via prompts, meditations, worksheets, and collaborative activities. Babies and young children are invited along to play (and many moms choose to attend solo!) while we explore what motherhood means to us and offer and receive true support along the way.

1-1 Coaching Session with Robyn
Each person will have a 1-1 coaching session with Robyn is a chance to go deeper and receive personalized guidance. Using a model from 5-Element acupuncture, Robyn will help you see a broader perspective on what’s going on in your life, allowing you to move some of what’s been stuck and heal some of what’s been injured. Most coaching sessions will take place at noon on Fridays, but additional times may be arranged if needed. Additional 1-1s can be scheduled at a reduced rate as well.
We'll hold an open, welcoming, and judgement-free space to explore motherhood identity within the context of a culture that doesn’t support mothers.

Most mothers in the program have between 1 and 3 children who are ages 6 months to 10+ years old. For our in-person circles, some mothers bring their child(ren) and others attend solo. Please see the FAQ below for more details or reach out to us with any questions.

We can't wait to do this together!

Motherhood: Redefined Winter/Spring 2026 registration will open late 2025

We'd love to have you in an upcoming cohort of Motherhood: Redefined! Registration opens 3 times a year for our cohorts in Winter/Spring (February-May), Summer (June-September), and Fall/Winter (October-January). Please complete the registration form below to have early access to the next cohort.

Location:
Motherhood: Redefined in-person circles are held at Elizabeth's home in Silver Spring, MD near the
Sligo Avenue Neighborhood Park. We'll meet outdoors on a screened-in porch or in an indoor playroom with a high quality air purifier. The exact address will be sent to participants upon registration.

There is ample free street parking. We are about 1 mile from both the Silver Spring and Takoma metro stations and there are also busses from each of the stations that stop a block away (the 16 bus from Silver Spring and the 14 bus from Takoma).
Health Policy:
To attend in-person you must be fully vaccinated. If participants have any symptoms of illness (Covid-19 or otherwise), have been in contact with anyone who has symptoms or has tested positive for Covid-19, or have tested positive yourself, they are required to join on zoom.

The Motherhood Redefined Circle came into my life at a time when I really needed it. It was a space that allowed me to be seen, heard, and understood and to feel less alone. Every week we explored topics that were extremely interesting and relevant to the challenges that we as mothers and women face in our society.  Thanks to our excellent facilitators who were able to create a safe space, the discussions were engaging and real and I always left feeling better and recharged. I also very much appreciated the notes that were shared after our sessions and the thoughtful "homework" that was given to help us continue to learn/grow outside of our meeting time. Thursday mornings became the highlight of my week and I'm deeply grateful for having had the opportunity to be a part of this group!

Motherhood: Redefined FAQ

Who can join?
We welcome anyone who identifies as a mother into this program. ALL moms are welcome. We embrace diversity in background, sexual orientation, age, race, religion, etc.

How many people will be in the program?
We have over 100 subscribers in the Motherhood: Redefined Substack for Fall/Winter 2025/26 and expect more to join!

The Full Program Circles will have between 4-9 moms so we can connect deeply and everyone has space to share  (Motherhood Redefined Membership + Weekly Community Support) .

Can I bring my child(ren)?
Moms & their young children are welcome in the in-person cohort. We don't provide separate childcare so children will be with us in the circle and you are welcome to bring toys, snacks, and other entertainment for them. You are also welcome to come on your own.

What if I need accommodations for a disability?

We strive to host circles that are inclusive, accessible spaces for all mama-identifying people, including those with disabilities, to engage in. If you have an accessibility need please mention it in the registration form and we'll follow up with you directly.

Where do we meet?
The in-person cohort will meet in Silver Spring, MD and the virtual cohort will attend on zoom.

Why should I join?
Modern-day parenting is exhausting and often lonely. We're doing the most important work in the world, yet are undervalued in our culture. We're here to bring back essential connections, (re)discover our self-worth, and create the community we need.

What if I am going to miss a week? Is there a way to make-up?
Due to the session/cohort model there are no make-ups but we will have the option to call/zoom in if you are unable to attend in-person. Everyone will receive the content via email/substack each week as well.

What if I want to switch days?
You can switch days (as long as there is space) up through the first week of the program. Each cohort is closed by the second week of the session as we want to create a save, supportive environment for sharing.

What if I am a dad?
We'd love to have you in Men with Babies (for dads with newborns - 1 year olds) or Fatherhood as Path (for dads with any age child(ren))! Both are groups specifically for dads to connect and find support.

What if I changed my mind? Can I get a refund?
Refunds (minus a processing fee) are available up to two weeks ahead of the start date. Cancellations made between two weeks and one week before the start of the circle receive a 50% refund. No refunds are available after one week prior to the start date.
