Galentine's Day Crafting at the Loft Collective
Wednesday, February 12 | 7:30-9:00pm
Join Mama Love Collective and the incredible women of The Loft Collective for a (day before) Galentine's Day feminist stitching workshop. It's an evening to enjoy conversations with other local moms, indulge in some yummy treats, and relax into the meditative process of stitching.
Here's the vision: you walk into an inspiring art studio loft, grab some delicious treats, and sit down with an old (or new!) friend. You're surrounded by fun and colorful art supplies, feminist patterns and inspiration, and start thinking about what message you'd like to create. Your instructor teaches embroidery stitches and application techniques, explains how to transfer designs to fabric, and supports you as you get into your project. There's laughter and sharing. Messages emerge from materials and you feel an ease in having time to explore your creativity in community. NO experience necessary & best enjoyed with friends! |
What's Included-Instruction on embroidery stitches and fabric application techniques
-A variety of materials to create your own message to take home (or gift to a friend!) -Imagery, inspirations, and patterns to help jump start your stitching project -An awesome community of like-minded mothers to connect with -Yummy desserts and non-alcoholic beverages (you are welcome to BYOB) -Materials and skills to finish your project at home if needed All at a cozy, creative, women-owned art studio! |
About The Loft Collective
The Loft Collective is an art studio for children and families, located in Takoma Park, MD, just at the edge of Washington DC. Formerly Little Loft, the studio reopened in the fall of 2021, offering many of the same programs, as well as some new classes that focus on making as a conduit for making meaning and making connections. With an eye on public art and a diverse group of artists, we choose projects and stories that explore the power of art to amplify voices, shift mindsets, and impact change.
