Creative Care: Nervous System Reset for Overwhelmed Mamas

A 4-session workshop series
As parents of little ones, we often get lost in the neverending demands of the day-to-day. We try to balance so many different roles, and always seem to be focused on taking care of others. Our nervous systems are fried from all the demands, sensory overload, feeling touched out, and so much more.

This 4-week workshop series is for mamas of young children who are feeling overwhelmed and disconnected from themselves, and who are wanting to feel more present and calm. In each meeting we will create art to support slowing down, pausing, noticing, being curious, sitting with challenges, and discovering personal meaning.

The Creative Care workshop series will provide opportunities to calm your nervous system, awaken creativity, and reconnect with yourself. Art-making with a variety of materials will support tuning into and taking care of you, so you can then feel more fully present and balanced as you care for your kiddo(s). Creating art in a small group will allow us to connect with community, hold space for each other, and find support from other mamas who get it.

No previous art experience necessary. All materials included.

Meet Kelly Jacobs

This workshop series will be led by artist and Art Therapist Kelly Jacobs, MA, LCPC, LCPAT, ATR-BC. Kelly is a somatic-focused art therapist who guides individuals in (re)discovering the creative self and (re)connecting with the body’s wisdom. As an artist and a Mama of two, Kelly has found creative ways to maintain an art practice, which sometimes means finger painting with a toddler or drawing a quick portrait of a sleeping baby.

Disclaimer: While this workshop series is facilitated by an art therapist and the experience may feel therapeutic, this is NOT art therapy and is not meant as a replacement for mental health care services. For more information on art therapy or to find a board certified art therapist to work with, please visit the American Art Therapy Association.

Creative Care Workshop Series FAQ

How many people will be in the workshop?
The workshop will have between 5-10 participants, plus the facilitator.

I'm not an artist and haven't made art in many years. Is that a requirement?
There are no techniques, skills, or experience required to make meaningful art. We focus on self-expression and the process of making, more than the product.

I don’t think I am a “creative type". Can I still join?

Yes! You might be surprised to discover that you ARE a creative type. Being creative is innately human. Perhaps you have just been disconnected from that creative spark, but we can rediscover that spark together.

What if I changed my mind? Can I get a refund?
Refunds (minus a processing fee) are available up to two weeks ahead of the start date. Cancellations made between two weeks and one week before the start of the circle receive a 50% refund. No refunds are available after one week prior to the start date.

What if I need accommodations for a disability?
We strive to host circles that are inclusive, accessible spaces for all mama-identifying people, including those with disabilities, to engage in. If you have an accessibility need please mention it in the registration form and we'll follow up with you directly.

What if the times don't work for me?
Please get in touch! We'll offer additional workshops if there is more demand and would love to include you in a future workshop if we are able.
